Where Have We Been

It's been a while since the posts about our fantastic Alaskan adventure, and we haven't been idle. We have been spending a good deal of time in Charlevoix, coming home to get Leah ready to start her own adventure in Washington, D.C., and then spending our 30th Anniversary at our favorite B&B in Saugatuck, Michigan, one of our favorite places to walk around and look at art.

Our adventures in August started with Alan being invited to see Leon Russel and Bob Dylan at Meadowbrook.  Leon put on a terrific show, and Bob's backup band was great. Bob is still an icon; in my humble opinion he is one of the most influential artists of the 20th Century; and well worth seeing any time he is in town no matter if he can sing or not.

After the concert, we were so excited that we couldn't sleep, so we left our house about 1 in the morning and drove all night into Charlevoix, getting there before 6.  This gave us time to set up the house for Danny and 4 of his friends who spent several days with us. Once they left, Leah and her boyfriend Jack joined us for the balance of the week.

We are spending a lot of time in Charlevoix, so I won't go into everything we do there, but I do want to answer the question burning in many of our reader's souls: What does Bethany do in Charlevoix?  Here are some examples:

Playing with her Sister

Sun Bathing

Boating with Leah and her boyfriend Jack

Boating by herself

Swimming

hangin with the posse

We came home from Charlevoix and then we celebrated our 30th Anniversary at the Rosemont Inn Bed and Breakfast, in Douglas (the town next to Saugatuck).

We love the Rosemont; it is like 24 hours of Savasana (that's for you yoga buffs out there; for the rest of us; it's like 24 hours of complete relaxation).

One of the garden areas of the Rosemont

And, of course, it's on the shores of Lake Michigan; beautiful views

Once we got back from Saugatuck, we spent time getting Leah ready for her big adventure in D.C.and then Alan took off for his first solo geeky road trip- but that's for the next post.

We've been married for 30 years now and were together for five years before then; and yet every day is a new adventure for us; that's the blessing of a great marriage.

Next- What do the Civil War, the Revolutionary War, the Capitol, the Capital, and aging hippies all have in common?  All part of Alan's first solo road trip!
